....Jay is employed in numerous productions and design positions with many of Vancouver’s finest theatre companies and festivals. He has been lucky enough to work on a few award winning productions and always with award winning people. His administration expertise includes seasons as Head of Wardrobe for Carousel Theatre, one of Canada's leading childrens theatre companies and a stint with Bard on the Beach. Jay also has the privilege to design and mentor at some of BC’s post-secondary institutions including Capilano University, Trinity Western University and his two alumnae the University of British Columbia and the University of the Fraser Valley.

Jay is a proud descendant of the Mohawk Nation and has represented First Nations people in the arts on delegates to Ashland Oregon, Guatemala, Czech Republic, China and Australia. Lately he has found a new form of expression as a visual artist and muralist. His murals can be seen in the Abbotsford and Vancouver school districts. His art combines inspiration from his world travels and the First Nations people of the Americas.

Jay has received a nomination for a Jessie Richardson Theatre Award and is also a recipient of the Rotary GSE Award. His designs have been exhibited at the Prague Quadrennienal Exhibition of Design and Performance in the Czech Republic.

About Jay Havens

Jay has been involved in art and performance  from a very young age and over the years  gained experience both in front of and behind the curtain. He is a graduate of the University of the Fraser Valley where he obtained a Diploma in Theatre Arts before transferring to the University of British Columbia where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts. He currently spends his days as a freelance designer and production artist in the Vancouver theatre community. . .
